There is nothing that the left loves more than a renegade Republican. No matter what the Republican turns on the party over, the left will embrace him. The latest example is Joe Kent, formerly the director of the National Counterterrorism Center who resigned opposing the Iran war.

Kent was a conspiracy theorist who should never have been appointed to that position. Democrats agreed, which is why all of them voted against his confirmation. In his resignation letter, he blamed Israel for the death of his wife. But now that he is attacking the Trump adminstration, all is forgiven and forgotten. He is now a wise man.

When Kent was confirmed for his position in July, the Washington Post wrote:

His past associations with far-right extremists also came under scrutiny during two failed bids for Congress. In 2021, Kent discussed social media tactics for his campaign with antisemite and white supremacist Nick Fuentes. Separately, Kent drew praise from Joey Gibson, who founded Patriot Prayer, a far-right group known for clashing with activists on the left. He later sought to distance himself from extremist groups.

After his resignation, the Washington Post reported, “Senior official openly breaks with White House, resigns over war.” The article noted that Kent had resigned accusing Israel of manipulating Donald Trump into the war and and then provided ouf of context evidence that Kent is right. Nowhere in the piece did the authors mention that Kent has been tied with white nationalist groups and has a history of anti-Jewish, racist, and conspiracy theory statements, except quoting one Republican congressman.

When Kent was being considered for confirmation, Jim Himes, the senior Democrat on the House intelligence committee, had said:

Seeking to strongarm intelligence analysts to suit the agenda of the President, and punishing them when they refuse to bend, is a road to national security disaster— and yet that is precisely the road that this Administration has chosen. The Senate must not confirm Mr. Kent as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center without a full understanding of his actions.

After his resignation, he said:

At least someone in this Administration is willing to stand by their principles.

To be fair, Nazi principles are principles of a kind.

After Kent’s confirmation, The New York Times had reported:

The Senate on Wednesday narrowly confirmed Joe Kent, President Trump’s contentious choice to be the nation’s top counterterrorism official, installing a pick who has embraced conspiracy theories and had links to extremist groups.

Reproting on his resignation, there was no mention of extremism or conspiracy theories, simply that

Some lawmakers called Mr. Kent’s remarks on Israel antisemitic, and critics mentioned his support for conspiracy theories.

Politico had previously called Kent a “far-right Trump enthusiast with ties to white nationalists.” After his resignation, it only said that some Republicans have accused him of being an anti-Semite, adding that he had a point that Israel had dragged the United States into the war.

Tim Miller of The Bulwark had called Kent a “Nazi” and a “white nationalist” in the past. He went on to praise Kent for drawing a line against Trump, adding that he has “a long standing policy of praising people who leave Trump/MAGA.” Which is to say, he actually likes Nazis who are anti-Trump.

The examples are countless, but I will stop here. This strange new respect for Kent is disgusting.

The media cannot help but say that the big bad Jews dragged America into a war. Iran has killed 700 Americans over the years, among many other bad things it has done, such as killing tens of thousands of its own people over a weekend. As President Trump warned, Iran has intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBM) that can hit Europe. And it was at its weakest point ever, meaning that we would never have a shot at a relatively easy war against it. But those were not enough. That no president before Trump had the guts to go after these monsters is a knock on them, not evidence that Israel and Jews dragged America into a war.

And we are winning this war. That journalists are too stupid and infliceted Trump Derangement Syndrome to realize that is not Trump’s fault.
