President Donald Trump is bombing Iran. Why? Because Iran did everything to convince us. Shame on us for waiting this long.
As German Chancellow Friedrich Merz said Sunday, “Appeals from Europe, including from Germany, and condemnations of Iranian violations of international law, and even extensive sanctions, have achieved little over the years and decades,” the chancellor said, as he blamed European weakness in part for failing to confront Tehran.
He said the German government concluded that, regarding Iran, “international legal assessments will have relatively little effect. This is all the more true if they remain largely without consequence... therefore, now is not the time to lecture our partners and allies.”
Let us review many of the diabolical things Iran has done (this list is not conclusive).
First, it begins with the Americans Iran has killed, kidnapped, or otherwise harmed. on U.S. soil:
• In 1979, immediately after the Islamic Revolution succeeded, Iran occupied the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and kept our diplomats hostage for 444 days;
• Since 1979, without any cause, Iran has arrested 32 U.S. citizens and four green card holders; Iran executed one of them, Jamshid Sharmahd, and a second one, Robert Levinson, is presumed dead, with his whereabouts unknown since 2007;
• Since 1979, Iran has tried to assassinate or kidnap people on U.S. soil, including U.S. officials such as Donald Trump, Johb Bolton, Brian Hook, and Mike Pompeo, Iranian Americans like former crown prince, Reza Pahlavi, former Breaking Battleground guest Roya Hakakian, activist and journalist Masih Alinejad, and the Saudi Ambassador to the United States;
• Since 1979, Iran has supported Islamist mosques and centers in the United States, through nonprofits such as the Alavi Foundation in New York, which the Department of Justice said is “controlled by the Iranian Government;”
• Between 1982 and 1992, Hezbollah, created and backed by Iran, kidnapped 104 foreigners, including 25 Americans, in Lebanon, killing CIA chief William Francis Buckley and Marine Colonel William Higgins;
• In 1982 and 1983, Hezbollah, created and backed by Iran, attacked American installations in Lebanon, including the U.S. Embassy and Marine barracks, killing 307, including 241 Americans; Hezbollah released the hostages in 1992;
• In the 1980s, during the Iran–Iraq War, Iran kept attacking oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, including several U.S.-flagged ships;
• In the 1990s, Iran set up a secret nuclear program, which we found out about in 2002;
• In the 1990s and early 2000s, Iran provided training to al-Qaeda terrorists who had already conducted terrorist attacks against the United States, including bombing the World Trade Center in February 1993;
• Between 2000 and 2005, Iran funded the Second Intifada in Israel, which killed at least four Americans;
• In the 2000s, Iran kept supplying Arab insurgents with explosives that American troops in Iraq and fueled the civil war and insurgency there, killing at least 607 Americans;
• In 2007, Iran-backed Hamas took control of Gaza and began a 16-year war against Israel, peaking on October 7, overall killing about 50 Americans;
• In 2022, Iran attacked the Iraqi Kurdistan, killing an American citizen;
• Between 2023 and 2024, six members of the U.S. military were killed by or in operations against Iran’s proxies.
Second, here is what Iran has done to its neighbors and U.S. allies and U.S. partners:
• Iran has conducted assassination and abduction campaigns across Europe;
• In 1994, Iran bombed the AMIA Jewish center in Beunos Aires, killing 85;
• Iran has supported terrorism against Israelis through funding Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad since the 1980s, killing hundreds of Israelis;
• Iran backed Bashar al-Assad militarily and led the ethnic cleansing campaign in Syria that killed half a million Syrians and led to the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe;
• Iran, through its militant proxies, has coopted the Lebanese and Iraqi states, which has led to popular uprisings in those countries against Iran, as well as fueling the 2000s civil war in Iraq;
• Iran and its proxies have attacked their Persian Gulf neighbors, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, including their oil refineries, which have killed workers on those facilities;
• Iran supported Houthi terrorists who overthrew a stable government in Yemen and set off a civil war and a humanitarian catastrophe there;
• Iran has supplied Russia with drones and missiles used against Ukraine;
• Iran has been fueling Chinese production by selling cheap oil to China;
• Iran supports Islamist mosques in Latin America;
• Iran supports narco terrorists in Latin America, including Hezbollah, which has a drug business in Mexico;
Third, there is Iran’s nuclear program:
• Iran created it secretly and only fessed up when we found out on our own in 2002;
• It has a missile program that can reach our allies in Europe and is developing intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) that can reach the United States;
• Iran has never agreed to stop enrichment; there are many countries with nuclear power that do not enrich uranium who buy it, and the only countries in the world that enrich uranium are countries with nuclear weapons;
• Iran has buried its nuclear program underground and refuses to allow international inspectors into certain facilities;
• Inspectors have found traces of 86 percent enriched uranium, which is weapons-grade, in Iran;
• Iran literally changed the soil in one nuclear facility to hide the evidence of its nuclear activities.
Fourth, what Iran does to Iranians;
• Iran hangs gays;
• Iran forces women to cover themselves and beats them up, sometimes even killing them, if they do not;
• Iran has the highest rate of execution per capita in the world, many of them poltiical prisoners;
• Iran arrests, tortures, rapes, and hangs political dissidents;
• During the recent protests, about 40,000 were killed on the street over four days, more arrested, and there has been a nationwide shortage of Plan-B pills because the security forces are raping women they have arrested;
• Iran is now telling the Iranian people to go on the streets to be a civilian shield against U.S. and Israeli attacks, encouraging its own civilians to sacrifice themselves to make the U.S. and Israeli militaries look bad;
• During the Iran–Iraq War, after Iran liberated its territories, it decided that it wanted to annex Iraq, but the Iraqis had mined the border; to clear the minefields, Iran would recruit children as young as 9 and 10 years old, wrap them together with ropes, and force them to walk on the minefields to clear them.
But other than that, the Islamic Republic is wonderful.
