A convicted child sex offender is now a legal parent to an infant boy — and Lou Perez says the story exposes a serious loophole in the law.
On Breaking Battlegrounds, Perez discusses the case of Brandon Keith Riley Mitchell, a former high school teacher and tier-one registered sex offender who pleaded guilty to felony child pornography charges and corruption of a minor.
According to Perez, Mitchell previously sent more than 12,000 sexually explicit messages to a 16-year-old male student. Now, he and his husband reportedly raised money through GoFundMe to have a child through surrogacy.
