In Germany today, the Alternative for German Party (AfD) “dominated a crucial state election on Sunday, according to near-final results (obviously California isn’t counting their votes), but fell short of the absolute majority that would have made it the first far-right party to govern part of the country since the Nazi era.”
I will not get into the many reasons why liberal outlets like the New York Times call them far-right today, but wanted to point out another example of the no-borders press trying to push a narrative.
The following blurb by #nytimes reporter Ashley Southall fails to mention a key point regarding Germany’s illegal immigration problem when she shares a story of a gainfully employed Pakistani immigrant. Of course she wants to imply that these hard working, LEGAL immigrants will be deported. AfD has stated that they only want to deport illegal immigrants and rejected asylum seekers.
While Southall’s regular assignment covers cannabis regulation in New York, today her motive appears to be showing her opinion of the AfD’s cruelty. She fails to mention after this story that “data from the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) groups Pakistan with other main non-EU/refugee countries of origin (such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq). Across these groups, employment rates have steadily risen over time, reaching roughly 64% to 68% for those who arrived around 2015 as they spend more years in the country.” Which means 32% to 36% are unemployed and likely on government assistance. Illegal immigration is out of control in Germany.
Ashley Sothall’s guilt-tripping blurb:
“Muhammad Hassan, 27, a native of Pakistan, said he has done all he can to assimilate in Germany since he arrived in 2023. He learned German, obtained his drivers license, finished his masters degree in water engineering, secured a job as a technical draftsman drawing underground infrastructure like sewage and electrical lines. But he fears that his dream of a free, secure life in Germany is colliding with the rise of the AfD just one year before he becomes eligible for permanent residency. “When I see today’s situation,” he said, referring to the election, “it has totally disappointed me because what I have dreamed, I cannot see right now.”
Anyone want to bet $100 that Mr. Hassan, unless he has done something illegal, is still working and thriving in Germany in ten years?
Do you really think productive, legal immigrants like Mr. Hassan are what the AfD and German citizens are concerned about? The answer is “NO.”
Polling from the Deutschlandtrend Poll reports that 83% of Germans view the current migration situation as a major cause for concern. While polls by groups like INSA show that up to 50% of Germans consider migration to be the biggest problem facing the nation.” Sources state that “Germany has registered over one million unauthorized arrivals and recorded over 3 million asylum applications since 2015.” Germany spends $25.8 billion USD annually on refugee and migration-related services and state assistance. It is a problem.
Either Ms. Southall hasn’t spent 10 minutes looking into the issue or simply wants to push an agenda through a touchy, feely human interest blurb. Welcome to the New York Times spin folks.
